Looking for PHP/AJAX Programmer. (Chat/IM)

I need chat integration from AIM, MSN, YAHOO, ICQ, Google Talk and possible IRC into AJAX Chat. This includes making categories for each in the already existent buddy list. Price is low because this is only the first step in a large project. Do a good job and you will be rehired for the next steps.

They can already log in and chat to other users, they need the ability to add their AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, and GTalk accounts to their buddy lists, and be able to talk to them using the features of each client. Kind of like Meebo.

Again, I have a LOT more work on the way to whoever can get this done quickly and correctly.

Will pay the best offer. (Looking for around $20, but price is negotiable for a job well done, and remember, theres a lot more work ahead)

$20 for this kind of job? You might be kidding. You can't hire serious programmers to do this as the budget is almost free. Do you have any idea how much the time required here?

    This thread is ridiculously funny.

"Hey, would you build me a house for $1000? I know it's not a lot, but I promise I'll buy a few more houses if you do a good job!"

This is not some tiny script, this is some serious integration work across a lot of differing APIs. Trillian is basically the desktop version of this and development has been happening on that for a long long time, and it's still missing a lot of features across the different messengers. I've seen a lot of crazy requests, but this might very well take the cake.

I've never quite understood what motivates people like this. For some reason, maybe the anonymity and lack of embarassment afterwards, people think that the online freelance market operates amazingly different from any other job market and that requests like this are kosher. It's definitely got its differences, but the core ideas of a capitalistic society are still ever present in the freelance programming market. Good work comes at a greater price than crappy work, the longer something takes, the more it costs, and most people (short of novices) don't work for peanuts. Going to my previous analogy, would you want a house built by a guy willing to build it for $1000? I sure wouldn't. He's either not qualified to get the job done, or he's scamming me.

So please, get real. Some people make a living/career out of freelance programming, and your job request is laughable, at best. I'd laugh more if I didn't fear the fact that you're completely serious. This thread embarasses me, it probably embarasses any other serious programmer, and it should embarass you.

Let me rephrase my offer, you are allowed to use already existing code snippets, such as Ajax Chat, Socheable, the various already made PHP client protocols, etc. The only work required is to get them into our UI. I am not asking you to reinvent the wheel here, nor am I asking for exclusive right to your code either. There are a ton of PHP scripts out there that do this, all I am asking for is a compilation of some features from one to another.

And as I said, the price is negotiable with an offer of further work on the project, as there is a lot still to be done.

So if you want to make an offer to do the job at a higher price, make the offer. We have funding, but there are so many smaller projects within it that is has to be split somehow.

If you want to make an offer of $1000 and that is your REASONABLE OFFER, then great, I will take that into consideration, if you work for $5, 10, 20, 50, 100 an hour, tell me that too. Something can be worked out. However, if your just here to bash me when i clearly stated that prices can be worked out, then it is VERY unappreciated.

You should have mentioned this at the first place. Coz they will surely think that you're embarassing them.

Haha, this is really funny. My mouth is almost cut off while laughing.

    Anyway, good luck.

Sorry for going offtopic guys, But AFAIK there are NO open source scipts/API/logics are available which integrate with all messengers, Forget about open source there are no Payed API`s available.

Correct me if i am wrong

I had a java component which was working on yahoo. In theory, using protocol snooping techniques, you can eventually make a client for each of these IM networks, but expect it to take weeks of work and thousands of dollars costs. Let's talk if you're interested.
