We are a e commerce site selling custom wall art. It has been 5 month or longer since we opened and not one sale yet. Last month we had a random drawing giving 4 of our free paintings for people who would sign up for our newsletter. It seem to work we got 5 pages worth of people to sign up. I will be shipping them out tomorrow i hope this help with our marketing. Pretty much spread word of mouth. We do twitter and facebook pretty much daily. Our seo is not that bad. we have some keywords ranking good. We have a toll free number for trust and ssl and accept credit cards. I would say we average 50 hits a day from what google analytics says. I have live chat so i can watch when people come visit us and what they look at. Even got many articles published at ezinearticles to help with seo. It just seems we cant buy a sale. Are you doing anything wrong or does this just take time? Your site looks good. 50 hits a day is pretty low for a site like this and if you haven't had any sales than the 50 hits a day are not targeted. From the sounds of it your main marketing tools are social media(facebook and twitter) and Ezine. Ezine is great if you find "targeted" low competition keywords and make lots of articles around them. In my opinion it's more of an affiliate resource than a webmaster. The first thing I would do if I were in your position is begin an all-out PPC campaign on Google Adwords. Research keyword usage and competition using the Google keyword tool and attack those keywords first. Next make a broad press release about your site, how wonderful it is, and any current promotions. Google press release web-sites and you'll find some good options. Continue with Ezine just be sure to use the Google keyword tool to find targeted keywords for titles and consider hiring professional writers on sites like Elance to write in bulk for you. Article marketing takes a little while to generate traction but will payoff huge in the end. Lastly you can start an affiliate program. Figure out what you would pay per commission for each sale made on your site. Offer a lucrative program on clickbank and attract affiliates to generate massive traffic for you. Good luck!
Its a nice looking site, Here is my Opinion. You need to keyword research and target NON art related words. Interior decoration Modern wall hangings Etc. Don't target art lovers and artists, they are just looking at art, NOT buying it. Your market to me is housewives, Interior designers, renovators etc. Its the 100% Unique angle that you need to push as people like to have the only one. Even Offer a custom solution based on photos of rooms that they can send you. Personalise each piece, make the images as big as you can and target BUYERS Not LOOKERS. Add a small story to each painting and let the buyer have an experience rather than just looking at some small digital photos. Hope that helps ODA
