Google docs can do something like that: http://docs.google.com You could also look at Microsoft Office Live - you can't do exactly what you want now, but if you download an application you can edit existing docs online , and they are planning to launch a totally online set of apps in beta very soon and have a full online facility to use Office software online next year.
Live Office online or Google Docs though if you are looking for an alternative you could try Open office
