I have a fairly new website. Well, maybe i should say, I have a site that I registered a year ago and really have not done anything with it until recently. I was thinking about creating a link directory that would be relevant only to the topic i cover. It would work like this, people would submit a link with their anchor text they choose and I would review the site and write my thoughts on it (about 200 words per link submission) In exchange for a link to my site. Obviously I could not expect them to do the same, except I would want the link with my anchor text. Do you think this is a good idea? My site is relatively new and I don't have any PR to pass on it, so thats a negative right there, but I was thinking that if I were to actually link to them and write something along with it (per their request) it would allow me the opportunity to get link exchanges going. Would this kind of thing work? Am I wasting my time to offer something more than I would receive (i.e. link+content) It is not easy for a startup site to get links naturally and I want to make it as natural as I possibly can on my site. I really dont want to start submitting to directories because I personally feel that they would not be something I want to subject my site to. Any thoughts?
Oh, I agree with you on that, I was referring to link exchange directories that a lot of sites have to build PR.
