Hello everybody, I am looking for a dedicated server with a UK host. 1and1.co.uk are good and price is OK, but they have 24 month minimum contract, which I can't accept. Can anyone advise an alternative decent (!) UK host, which would offer the same specs (see the 1st column, £69.99) for similar price with much shorter or preferebly no minimum contract? Briefly, I need: CPU dual core 2 x 2.4 GHz (or faster) RAM >=2 GB Hard Drives >=2 x 250 GB Traffic Unlimited IPs >=3 Thanks
It's better to be a UK as I live in the UK and quite a few of mine domains are co.uk, so it's better for local rankings plus simpler financially (my bank charges extra for international payments). I may consider non-UK host, provided it's well established with good reputation, accepting credit card payments and no hidden fees. Please suggest your options (here or via PM)
kimsifu is too young (aug.2008), but ovh seems quite good - 7 years in business and prices are good too, thanks!
I ckeck their uptime here http://host-tracker.com it is 99.75%, it's great isn't it? Need to get some info about them from users. Thanks for your offer, but ovh seems better so far, besides it's UK. P.S. BTW, ranking depends both on domain extension and location of servers.
Kimsufi are OVHs cheap range of servers You just dont get as much bandwidth, you can choose a metered option with the Kimsufi servers too.
You tell me, is it great? 99.75% of uptime = 21 hours 54 minutes of downtime PER MONTH. 99.9% of uptime = 45 minutes of downtime PER MONTH I'm not trying to bash anyone, just being realistic here. If you're ok with the downtime (many people are) then do go with them!
http://www.poundhost.com/ http://www.eukhost.com/ http://www.rapidswitch.com/ There is some companies for you!
LH-Danny, thanks for the links HostingDealsNow, which service do you use to check the uptime? As http://host-tracker.com gives exactly the same 99.75% for you, as it does for ovh.
Wait, there's more jshosts.com webhosting.uk.net I think both of these have servers in the same datacenter (RapidSwitch), so it's up to you which offer looks best.
Host-tracker doesn't track our uptime, I don't know where you're getting those numbers from. Have a look at http://www.hyperspin.com/en/ranking.php?type=1
