Hello, I have a Entertainment Site (Videos/Games/Jokes/Pictures etc) left untouched for over an year still getting 2000+ uniques daily (10K page views). I am planning to change this site into a AskMen . com type portal but with a new Domain (doing 301 permanent redirects). I have approx. $10,000 to spend on getting more traffic (preferably 15-20K unique visitors daily in next 3 months). What would you guys suggest I should be doing to achieve this. I will really appreciate all ideas/suggestions. Thanks, Princy
The same thing the three guys who started Askmen did: Advertise. That's the only way. Or is this your plan anyway, but you want to know how to advertise better?
Yes, I will like to know better ways to Advertise and also if possible places to buy quality/cheap traffic.
You should spend it on banner space on popular sites similar to your own. You could also hire SEO specialists to help you increase your site's ranking. As far as free marketing, have you tried social marketing yet? Make Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Stumble Upon profiles, etc., about your site. Yahoo Answers is also a great way to receive free instant traffic.
Leave it alone. Build your new site. Then link out to it. I wouldn't do a ton of 301 redirects. No need to "fix" what isn't broken. When the new site is fully developed and you are sure it is working and will meet your conversion goals the you can go back and readdress if 301's and pushing all your traffic to your new site is the way to go.
So, you are suggesting keeping both sites live at same time? I do not think it will work as I plan to use all the content on the old site. I will just do 301 redirects on all the main menu options. I will appreciate more ideas.
I am not waiting for help and I have been reading this and other forums. But, looking for someone to provide something new I guess. Thanks.
The vast majority of people here don't have the capital that you have. I'd recommend not taking advice from people here, maybe visit an affiliate summit or other conference and get suggestions from real advisors. I think you'd be better off taking that route.
