Ive been having issues with my current host as regards to their 'hits' as they have shitty limits (servage). my website is new & hasnt really picked up well , not monetized well & hosting troubles are really a big distraction. I would like you guys to recommend me some host who does have a track record of people running image hosting sites on it successfully , as of now i cant go for a dedicated host so a shared hosting only for me. Right now i consume 5-20gb bandwidth daily.
If you need a reliable host. then, you can check this thread. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=422778 Then, you can Pm me.
er sorry i dont think you fit the bill in terms of bandwidth usage, plus i was looking at recommendations from perople who have had image hosting sites on some hosts.
Im not sure which host to go for , after my bad experience with servage ( 3600gb bandwidth per month , 360gb space BUT a daily hits limit of 350000 , hits referring to hits & not page views or unique views) Ive paid servage for 6 months which is more or less now money down the drain. I dont think i can afford vps as of now , i was looking at a shared hosting option which doesnt have the above limits or any other sql issues.
any of you currently running image hosting sites on those places ? my current bad experience has made me skeptical of each & every hosting company.
Most shared hosts won't allow image hosting/file storage/download type sites. A cheap VPS would be a good option for you. Check WHT forums
Anyone with cheap vps offers to pm me , my requirement is of 20gb bandwidth max per day & 100gb space , and please no limits to hits or any other hidden bull ,im once burnt twice shy with hosts now.
20GBx30=600GB per month. That'd be a costly affair for VPS. If you can tell your max budget, it'd be good. Also, unmetered 5Mbps or 10Mbps VPS is a viable option which is cheap.
I think around 20$ , im still a startup and ive already paid servage for a 6month period which is like money gone down the drain. Would really like some host who delivers what he says.
You should really consider going the dedicated server route. Your needs really seem to be a bit larger than what a shared hosting platform can offer, which is why you are seeing "shitty" performance as you called it... We have several low cost dedicated server closeouts available starting at around $89/mo. here: http://www.hostdrive.com/bargain
