Looking for hosting for a membership site

    Hi,

Hope this is the right place to ask this question.

I have been looking for decent hosting to start a membership site that offers
members digital downloads. Problem I am having, is they all seem to have file
upload limits and since alot of the files I need to upload are higher than their
limits I am having a hard time getting a host.

I saw 000webhosting does not have file upload limits, but I tried to go with
them before and my site seemed to be down alot.

I want my members to be able to log in and click on the download link so that
they don't have to leave my site. So it has to be seamlessly integrated into my
    site.

I have heard that amazon offers a file service, but I would rather just be able to
pay for the main webhosting alone without paying for a dedicated server or another
    file hosting service.

Does anybody know of any webhosting out there that can meet my needs or
a combination of webhosting and file sharing service that does not cost an arm
and a leg every month when starting out?

    Thanks

What are the types of files you need to host? Any copyright issues? If so, you'll need to look for an offshore host.

Do they really limit the uploads? Are you serious? :)
I believe there is a bunch of decent hosting offers suitable for a membership site. You could even get a VPS if you're looking for more freedom.

HostMantis, The files would be master resale and private label rights membership
digital products like e-books, software, graphics and scripts.

Intermg, Yes, like Hostgator does not allow me to upload more than 20mb in a single file and many others offer less. The only way around it is to break the bigger file into
multiple zips and than multiple links for members to download the product.

    Thanks

Your best bet is to go with VPS. This will allow you to lift the file size limits and be your own boss. :)
I think if you do a quick market research, you will be able to find a decent VPS offer for the price of a shared web hosting. Feel free to hit me up if you'd need more guidance on this matter.

I have no problems with upload file sizes, if you order any standard hosting account I can manually ensure there are no upload limit issues for you, but I think ours is set to 500mb or something like that... I'd have to check...

I suppose that you will have more opportunities using paid hosting services instead of free.. Customer hosting support is one of the most important things when choosing a host.

if you looking hosting for such site, than you must care for data of your members, which you cannot keep secure in free hosting, so must go with a good reputable paid hosting company, instead of free or reseller hosts
