Effective Writing Techniques

Writing articles and content for your website is a good way to increase traffic and earn more potential customers. It is important to remember that when you write articles, you should follow these simple rules: attention, interest, action, and desire.

Attention refers to how you attract your readers. Try to use a catchy title that will grab readersâ€™ attention and make them want to read your article.

Interest refers to getting and keeping your readers interested in what you have to say or tell them. A person isnâ€™t going to read your article if it is boring and doesnâ€™t interest them. So grab their interest by posing a question to them that will make them think and keep them interested.

Desire refers to your readersâ€™ desire to read your article. If you offer a solution to a problem they may be facing, they will most likely wan to know how to solve it, and in turn will want to read your article.

Action refers to making your readers want to take action right after reading your article. If you are selling a product, you want your readers to buy it right away. To make them want to take action, emphasize how wonderful your product or service is.

By following these rules, you will guarantee that people will want to read your article thoroughly, then go out and buy what you are offering.

Investing During Recession

You have most likely heard on the news or other media that there is fear of a recession, as the recent news of home loan lending significantly impacted the stock market. You may ask yourself, is it safe to invest at this point in time, or is it just a lost cause.

The first thing you must remember before investing, is that an all out recession is not necessarily going to occur. With the Federal Reserve creating a stimulus package at the moment, in combination with interest rate cuts, it could be that the recessions impact is not as hard hitting as previously thought.

However it may still not be a wise investment move to invest in shares and stock. If there is a recession, no matter the impact of it, a clear length of a recession will be unknown and you may end up losing much of your initial investment. It is best to stick with something with low risk and that is relatively secure, so you are sure that you will be making money on your investment in the long run.

However, if you are investing in the long term, these should not be concerns of yours. You will likely be looking for high returns and will invest in a reputable company or fund that has a solid return.

Social Networking

A social network is a website that connects people and groups based on their interests. Social networks can connect you with new people, and as your friends grow, your network of contacts becomes bigger and more complex. Social networks contain certain elements, such as chat, messaging, video chat, blogging, interest and discussion groups. Some widely used social networking services include MySpace and FaceBook in North America, Hi5 which is primarily used in Europe, Orkut by Google being the major social networking service in Brazil, and Friendster being popular in Asia.

On a social network site, you set up a profile describing yourself and can post blogs and chat with friends. Because the low costs associated with social networks, as well as the large amounts of people it can connect, they are essential for entrepreneurs and small businesses that are looking to expand their recognition and contact base, and are often used as a customer resource tool for these companies offering their services.

Because of the large amounts of people these sites attract, advertising is very important. Banners and text ads attract potential customers. However, it is important to note that these general ads do not reach as many people as they possibly could. Because companies arenâ€™t sure what the audience that use these social networks are, they cannot create dedicated ads to cater to certain groups.

If you are interested in expanding your contact list and picking up more customers, I suggest you become a member of some social networks. By expanding peopleâ€™s knowledge of your business, you can attract more clients and earn more money.

MySpace has opened up its site to users by allowing then to add e-mail services, games, and other useful features from online developers. MySpace hopes to launch these brand new features early next month. This move by MySpace is in order for them to stay competitive against various other sites, such as Facebook.

Although MySpace already allows its users to personalize their profiles, they usually must spend hours searching for the new programs they want, and then copy them into their profiles. What MySpace has done is allowed third party developers to use the MySpace Developer Platform to develop useful MySpace applications that will run over usersâ€™ profiles. For example, applications could be created that would allow for MySpace users to view photo albums directly from their profile, without the need to link to outside websites.

MySpace hopes that this will allow it to compete against rival website, FaceBook. FaceBook has already opened up its developer platform to developers and has had much success with websites such as iLike.com and Slide Inc. Although these applications have increased FaceBooks popularity, it still is second to MySpace.

Furthermore, MySpace will allow developers of theses applications sell advertisements on specially made web pages for their application.
