Two wrongs don't make a right.

Even if you delete the images off the server they will have site backups and atleast one copy on their own PC. They will be back in business in minutes but you will be liable for prosecution.

Yes, it is hard to protect your intellectual property and frustrating and expensive. However when you put your content online you know you take a risk. Employ lawyers, make them think you will follow through and they will, eventually, buckle.

Ending up in court on a hacking charge isn't going to help you in this instance or in the future.

In which case you are ahead of the game. You know the person, you are, presumably, in the same country so have the same legal system.

The downside is that you will damage the relationship further and your friends will need to "choose sides".

I think a stern $50 letter from your lawyer will do the trick.

I'm no legal expert but given that the friend had access to your camera implies that the friend was in a position of trust.

All the more reason to take the moral high road.

we are far from friends now days and the other mutual friends we had do not speak to her either. She sits on the internet all day and tries to slander people for a living. instead of doing positive things with her time she decides to hide behind a screen.

I have lots of pics stolen and republished since years, and G knows it (informed more then 3 yrs ago) and is happily earning from copyright infringers networks because there are entire networks with apparently ten thousands of beautiful pics all stolen from others.
and Gpogle seems quiet happy with such sites, because G always wins/earns $ no matter who publishes.

learn from it, watermark your pics, select your friends better
if you legally pursue that case all you do is waste your money and loose your peace of mind for a while

if that site hosted in a western country and you have prove of ownership of stolen pics, then a detailed email to the hosting company usually is the easiest way to get that site closed within usually 24 hrs. this works best in USA and less in all other countries and nothing at all in China, etc

    and as said above
    since it is about "friends"
one day in the future you have to meet them again, eyes to eyes and the less you do now and show generosity and forgiveness
the less problems you have later

I would just send her a certified letter giving her a certain date to have the pictures off of her site or the next letter she gets will be from your lawyer.

First you can't "learn to hack" overnight, second File a lawsuit, or ignore it, Most likely no one will do anything about and even if you could hack it, it would just be a waste of time as It would get posted elsewhere I'm sure, So you need to just let things go and go on with your life.
