I'm looking for a new hosting company. I have 8 sites and 6 are forums. Any suggestions. Please no sales pitches. Thanks
To get a better idea of what you are looking for, please tell us who you are currently hosting with and what you do not like about them.
Also what is your budget? As I forum user myself I know the sites can eventually get very busy and need additonal resources.
Im not really sure how much bandwidth im using honestly. My forums are new and have less than 50 users online at once. My other 2 sites will be mostly text with the exception of a logo a cpl jpegs and maybe a video or 2. Nothing excessive for awhile. As for my budget no more than $20 a month. Preferably around $10-$15. Host Gator was recommended to me. Any problem with them? the hosting company im using is currently the one the sites were on when I bought them and under a friends name so Im changing to my own. the hosting company im using is currently the one the sites were on when I bought them and under a friends name so Im changing to my own.
Most web-hosts should be fine for your requirements. I would certainly avoid GoDaddys hosting at all costs though
Godaddy is not the place you want to get close for hosting. It sounds like you demand a great performance. You might consider Dreamhost, it is only hosting company (I have 13 of them) offers dedicated / separated SQL server from your web server. I vote it as performance winner. If you look at my site wordpresshostings, but they don't have cPanel offer, so you must be very techy to love SSH access only. If that is show stopper then Bluehost and HostGator, watch out with HostGator and their environment is more restricted.
number of reliable cheap companies out there. just google it. have a look at packages , check price and go for it.
If you want some cheap hosting with quality performance then go for http://virtual-india.in/ I have used this one and it works well.
hi, I would suggest Dreamhost. You can try it out by taking up the free trial. Do remember to get a $50 off discount coupon code if you are going to purchase their web hosting service. You can start from shared hosting and upgrade to private server as and when needed.
I suggest Cmdoz-Hosting In your situation I should go for the shared hosting, the standard plan for $7.99 70GB Disk 300GB Transfer host 12 domains free and instant setup http://cmodz-hosting.com/shared.php
Some good advice here, but I would add my 2c. For that budget you can get a virtual private server with 768MB of RAM, 80GB disk and 10Mbps unmetered bandwidth in a datacenter in Arizona. It comes with a cPanel license for 10 domains and fits all your requirements with enough room to grow and experiment. I recommend the company, and I also have Hostmonster, Dreamhost and FatCow among my suppliers, but they all have serious limitations.
i suggest blogshoster.com the owner of its a member on here. And they have been running for nearly two years now. and im sure if you speak to him he will gladly be able to help you out
try Dhruva Hosting. A friend of mine hosts with them and I have seen that they are providing good service. You can try them.
Why don't you consider vps? VPS price is cheaper nowadays. With your budget, you can easily get up to 1G ram
Well when you run forums it's not really space or bandwidth that you should be worried about ( unless you have lots of images and lots of visits => tons of badwidth ). You shouldn't have problems hosting small or midsize forums on most shared web hosting companies. When your user base grows, hence more and more active members at any time, you will be probably asked to switch to a dedicated server or a virtual server because you will be eating most of the shared server's resources: the truth is that you will probably decide to switch to a more powerful solution ( dedicated or vps ) before they ask you to do so because, in order to make your visitors experience better, you'll want to give them faster loading pages, and you really can't pretend this on a shared server of which you're eating the majority of the resources just for your website. I hope it makes sense.
Try HostGator.com or HostStore.com, they both are great, but if u want new web hosting company, then HostStore is very new....
