I want something that will look and feel like amazon (or this site www.yu4you.com). With special deals, feedback system etc. Solutions I am aware of are www.zen-cart.com oscommerce.com Have anyone tried them? How custmizeable are they, what about SEO? Is there something else on the market worth considering?
have a look at ZenCart. You can customize it to do pretty much anything you want. There are people on their forum and here that can customize it for a reasonable price. http://www.zen-cart.com/
Hey, Check out Easy Store Hosting They have many customers like (You can check out their client portfolio for more information) Branded Lighting Linux Bazar and more.... etc I know them personally, so I can give you their email ids to get to them quicker for your inquiries. Believe me, they are very cheap Hosted services, who can get the site up in minutes. You do not require even a bit of php knowledge.
I have been using OSCommerce for a few months or so. The software is pretty much plug-and-play for a default stock online store which includes backend and administrative features. You can easily modify any product, create deals on the go through the administration section, give others access to it. etc. The community itself is big and growing in numbers. Along with the installation comes an enormous .pdf file which explains how to modify a good portion of the files included (many people overlook this and are often overwhelmed). OSCommerce comes with distribution modules/addons which are made (and modified for optimization) by other users. They range from different features, skins, options, payment modules, administrative mods, etc. Their forums have tons of topics answered daily which is a plus. Its a good place to go when you need some help. Just giving you my two cents on the topic. - Kestal.
I need to set up an estore for a person that's new to online selling and practically knows nothing about computers or anything that has to do with it. I've been looking at OSCommerce and Zen cart, but they seem far too complicated...
Check out http://www.easystorehosting.com . They dont require any prerequisite programming knowledge required....
I've built a dozen or so sites with Ecommerce Templates.com. Can't say enough good things about the product or the support!
Try Avactis Shopping Cart. It has very nice backend and easy from storefront design customization. We;ve used osCommerce for some of our projects and now we prefer Avactis. If you are web developer you will get one copy FREE of charge here http://www.avactis.com/ads/shopping-cart-camp1.php Also you can find good shopping cart solutions at http://www.hotscripts.com
OSC is it. Every possible mod has been made already, great support for every popular payment gateway, and with the new version, they'll have a built in template system. Also, they have an option for SEO safe URLS, and it's open source. It keeps getting better and better. I run two sites with OSC and have been thrilled with the results.
