Hi all, Im looking for a business workflow software package - something free under GNU to run on a windows machine. I run a website that ships products to customers, and I wanted to put the workflow down for the different people involved, from processing to dispatch etc etc. Does anyone know if such a thing exists? Many thanks to everyone.
By workflow software do you mean the software to actually design an efficient workflow or the software to actually manage the workflow (ie notify the right person in the right department that an action is required/ escalate it to their line manager if not handled within time limits etc)?
Well, the intention is to use the workflow to manage the business procedures efficiently...however I would like the freedom to develop and design the workflow initially and ability to alter the workflow based on improved procedures. But mostly to manage the people and their time efficiently, yes.
The two tend to be different software packages - "design"/ analysis tends to be based around something like Lean or 6 Sigma which you use to create the processes and then a second package is used which you enter the business rules into that actually puts the workflow in place/ manages it/ reports on it.
Great, thanks for the info. So if I initially look for two pieces of software - do you know of any under GNU license that I can use? Id rather do this than commit to spending a lump sum of money on the wrong software etc.
I will ask the guys as none spring to mind (after all that) but I come from a corporate background so GNU wasnt an option and as I have both Lean and 6 Sigma training I wouldnt really need 1 and for 2 we build them ourselves but the some of the others come from a small business environment where they may have used GNU licensed software
