I'm just looking for a bit of feedback on my landing page. I had a very low quality one before that was getting a CTR of about 35%, so I hope this one will do better. My main concerns are the font size and the header image, although there's nothing I can do about the latter for the time being; I'm commissioning one of my friends to create an image for me, but it's not yet ready. The domain name is also a bit too long, but I don't want to lose the backlinks I've built. If there's any way to change it (with some sort of redirect) while preserving the SEO benefits of the backlinks, then please let me know. And no, editing all of my off-page content to point to the new domain is not a viable option at the moment. Other issues: FAQ is a bit short, the copyright bit isn't centered correctly and the character is messed up (can be fixed, just haven't done it yet,) contact and privacy pages aren't up yet, and the affiliate product is positioned a bit too low on the main page. It's also worth noting that I am and will be using adwords for the page. More content will come in time. The site: http://www.mmastrengthandconditioning.info I guess I can't use live links due to my post count, so you'll have to post it into your browser. Thanks in advance, and I appreciate you reading this far.
The first thing I noticed was you had a picture of a bodybuilder as your top banner. Bodybuilding and MMA are completely different and I think it would look better if you put an MMA fighter up there instead of that dude you got now. Even though both of the sports require working out and getting in shape, they are still different in how you want to train and make your body look. Other than that it looks pretty good. The image on your Diet and Nutrition page is a little off. It's pushed down the page instead of at the top of that box. Also, maybe lighten the page up a little bit. The darkness is too much for me. Leave the background dark but try making the text white and see how that looks instead of grey on black.
Yeah, the header image is something I'm going to be replacing once my friend is done with the commission. The one I'm favoring is an image of GSP, Fedor, and Rampage with a transparent background. That is, I know Franco Columbo is a horrible header at the moment, but I'm not particularly good with photoshop. Thank you though.
I lightened the font a bit and fixed the nutrition page. Thank you for the suggestions. I'm still waiting on the new header image. Another question: I've gotten some feedback from my friends (nonmarketers,) and their main concern is that it's not clear that the "more info" links on the left are sales pages. I don't really want to dupe my visitors into clicking on the links, as that'll just annoy them and reduce my conversion rate. I've come up with three possible solutions 1. Change the header from "more info" to "offsite resources" - might affect CTR, but should help conversions 2. Move the main navigation from the top to the left side, pushing the affiliate links down - will make the visitor read the introduction paragraph before seeing the affiliate link; however, this is somewhat redundant since my main affiliate is at the bottom anyway. 3. Have the links head to pages on my site that give a brief description of the product and then direct them to it. - I favor this idea, as it'll decrease CTR to the hoplink, but will greatly increase conversions. I'm hoping for a 10-15% CTR through all of those links, and then a ~50-70% CTR from the description page to the sales page. I can also modify the header to further increase conversion rates. While 3 is my favored idea, I'm not sure how this fits into the new FTC guidelines; in fact, I don't wholly understand what the deal with them is. I've read reports that they will not be fining for failure to disclose, but then I've also read that they will fine $11,000. Any clarification would be appreciated. I could also just leave it how it is, if it doesn't seem like a real issue. Thanks again in advance.
