I have been looking online as well as in this forum for some info about starting an ecommerce website and I just cant seem to find the exact info I am looking for. So here it goes... My dad has decided to get into the wine business and has started a retail store. He approached me about making a website for it, but does not have the time to manually input 10,000 images of bottles and 10,000 names and prices etc. I am trying to find a way to upload this information easily to a website, maybe through a spreadsheet. Is there an easy way to do this? What is the best way to create an inventory on a website that involves this much inventory ? I must also let you know my level of web design. I have never taken a class on web design or development. I made my first website about 5 months ago. I have 3 wordpress websites and am starting to create one using Joomla (a bit more challenging than wordpress) just to get a better understanding of it. Can this be made using Joomla? Your help is greatly appreciated!
Well it appears that there are no ecommerce experts on this site. I find that hard to believe. If anyone has ideas of how to upload invintory for this site please let me know. Do I use MySQL? Do I use CSV? Am I going to have to manually upload everything more than once? Can MySQL hold images if that is the way to go? Maybe someone has some links to share with me to inform me of ideas on how to do this project. Thanks in advance
Way too much hassle for me, havent got enough time on my hands, basically you need to: find (and most likely pay for) a feed/database/CSV for bottles of wine If its a feed or CSV, upload the file to your web account, use PHP to open and parse the file. In the same file, use PHP to create and build a MySQL database and fill it with all of your parsed data. **As far as images are concerned I have no idea how to get these uploaded effeciently, but when they're on your server, you store the image location URL in the database rather than the image itself.
