Looking for Directory Script

I am looking for a script that is basically a directory script, however, it doesn't need a user submission feature.

    Features needed:

I want to combine all listings into one database. Each listing will be added manually via an Admin Panel like a regular directory listing (company name, description, url, State or Country.)

In the Admin listing, there needs to be check boxes for approximately 8 different categories of products they carry (widget1, widget2, widget3, etc) and one or more may be checked.

On the user end, the main page will have two drop down select fields - State AND then Product.

So a user looking for "Widgets" in "California" makes the two selections and the database then returns results based on this entry and creates a page(s) of listings with a dynamic url such as www.domain.com/widgets/california/

Unlike the directory scripts I've seen, I don't want the user to be able browse the categories levels like a normal directory.

I realize this is probably something that needs to be customized, but I would greatly appreciate any recommendations on whether there are scripts that might be able to be customized more easily than hiring someone to start from scratch - like eSyndiCat or PhpLD which have custom field abilities?

Rubbish, it is nowhere near the best available, what's all this with contact me for a discounted price? Are phpld offering affilateship's now? Wow they must be desperate. Out of courtesy I'll send someone over to their forum to check this out just in case your trying to sell a copy illegally. That's not an allegation btw, I'm actually protecting the interests of the owner of phpld even if he is a rival.

To the OP. You need only look at phpLynx, check the comparison and see that the free version is just as good if not better that phpld's full version, but even with saying that there may be far better scripts out there that would better suit your need.

good luck whatever your choice. :)

I think phpMyDirectory would be best for what you're wanting, however phplynx, phpld and esyndicat would probably suffice with customizations.

As Anon said, most scripts, certainly the phpLynx can be made to do what you need. My personal view is phpMydirectory is a little pricey for what it offers but if it does what you need then go for it. We're opening the code of ours to be modified and hopefully there are going to be coders who can make the script work around personal preferences, until then I'm happy to see you suceed in whatever script you choose. :)
