A client of mine is looking to start a website where they give away free html and design themes. Is there a good solution out there, preferably php / mysql that can handle this? All it really does is organizes files but I have to imagine there is a software script out there like this. Free is ok but paid is good. Features are important, ratings, reviews, etc, etc would be nice.
www.joomla.org Free CMS and once you figure out how to use it very powerful. Very steep learning curve though just stick with it, their boards are very good as well
1st Choice go for JOOMLA it's fully customizable and contains! many good looking templates! Secondly it's free and Open Source Program! Simply Go for it
You might as well try the live demos of all the various CMS before making a decision. http://www.opensourcecms.com/index.php is a fantastic site with all the CMS for you to test and decide.
Nothing wrong with that, it is feature rich, I recommend those who wants such features to use Joomla, I myself don't like it because till now I still can't figure out a lot of their functions
Well, I was hoping for something more towards a system designed for handling templates. There are tons of sites out there that do that, just imagine there is some tool that does that as well. Don't want to go down the custom route as can't seem to find a good developer lately.
what do you mean handling templates... displaying them? Having users see what each one looks like? If you use joomla... make a bunch of thumbnails and if you are using standard solflaredII stretch user1 position to however big you need it. Then when someone clciks on a thumbnail you can just have duplicate content of site with the template they wanted to see. Hope this makes sense the thing with joomla is that it took me NO KIDDING 4 or 5 months of steady working with it and revising, retrying, etc.(But I didnt know html, css, php, or any other programming when I started... If you know all of that it will be a lot easier to modify what you need to do. Honestly now I could make any site with joomla and it does make it very easy to manage everything and automate a lot of the stuff you would have to change manually using some sort of easy web design kit.
Oh, don't me wrong, I know joomla very well as many other tools. Personally I love drupal, know it very well. I am surprised there aren't more options and themes for drupal. In either case, not really looking for a cms solution all in but rather something that powers a site like this oswd.org
