I have a website about Alaska Fishing charters and lodges, along with other information about planning a trip to Alaska. I used a CSS template in Dreamweaver to build the site and did some optimization as per the information I got in an EBook by Brad Callen (any better suggestions?) I have done some link exchanges with other travel sites, but my site has not been indexed by google yet. I have a sitemap and a robots.txt file on the site as well. I also read that google is changing the algorithm, so maybe my SEO is not so great?? This is the first "SEO" site I have done, so all comments or suggestions to make my site better in terms of SEO would be great! Thanks, Brad B. www.alaskafishingcharteronline.com
Well travel is a very full niche. I would expect it to normally take years for organic traffic to come up for a travel site. I have no idea whether the niche 'alaska fishing charter' is crowded or not. Find out. If it is, this is an uphill battle. Make your site unique and find online hubs to promote it in (that is: fishing forums, for instance). If link exchange was the only link building tip your book had, it's not a good book.
If I were you, I would start writing articles with good titles and submitting them wherever you can...Check out CopyBlogger.com for title ideas.
