I am looking for a CMS to build a school website. The CMS should not be stuff like Moodle etc. It should be a regular CMS that can provide features such as contact lists, information about staff, management, recent activities at school etc. Thanks.
Well, 1) It should be simple, even Joomla is complex to people around me. 2) Should have a decent front end, a grand one, maybe like http:// dps rkp. net (remove the spaces). (This is a website, but I want the CMS to provide similar frontend). 2) Easy to manage.
dpsrkp.net looks like a static site. But you can acheive the same thing with WordPress. There are many people offering custom wordpress themes here. You can ask them to clone dpsrkp.net.
yeah i agree.. i've build dozens of websites using whole bunch of different CMS systems... i personally have 2 websites built on Joomla/Mambo and as you say it's not the most user friendly... and for you who think it is then you need to have a look at other CMS systems.. i've seen lots and Joomla is not the friendliest... Personally I recommend either ezPublish or Drupal.. these 2 have a very nice and user friendly enviroment and you can set up lots and loads of features without even have to do any coding.. something you can't do in Joomla... so have a read on ezPublish and Drupal
Well, there is nothing easier than QuickCMS. But, when you say You should be ready to take a moment and study options like Joomla since it has to be a complex CMS if you want it to be able to handle all that stuff for your website. With a few hours of dedication to reading through the help files, any CMS becomes easy to use. HTML is simple.
I like XOOPS but I think you will probably find you can make Wordpress do everything they need and it doesn't get much more simple.
I strongly recommend drupal the contact system is built in with the core package as well as many other features
dpsrkp.net uses a custom coded cms. You can use WordPress as others suggested. If you know some php WordPress could prove to be the best cms for your requirements.
