Hi all, I am looking to create a programming website and going to provide programming source code on my niche at free. Can you please suggest me a good content management system (which is free or open source)? Thanks Kanna
Joomla and drupal are good two good cms. But for your requirements you may try out Wordpress too. Its backend is very easy and lots of support and themes and plugins. Hope this hepls.
I like Drupal the best, Joomla comes very close behind. They have customizable skins and plugins which are awesome / easy to install.
I agree here. Drupal more SEO out of the box. Joomla more plugins and eaisier to use. There are more pros and cons.
I actually attribute much of the success of my site to how much SEO Drupal gives 'out of the box'. Very Search-Engine Friendly when done right!
I would also recommend Drupal. Very SE friendly(out of the box + few additional modules), easy to use, and is supported by a big community.
thanks for your help. I am going to test drive Drupal. Can someone suggest me a free hosting provider which can allow me to use Drupal? FYI: I already tried three free web hosting providers and signed up and while uploading some providers doesn't allow me to upload some file extensions of Drupal (for example, .htaccess, .module, .info, etc.)
Depending on what you are looking to do I can host you for free. PM me if you are interested and we can discuss it.
It does depend on what you'd like to do. I have limited Drupal experience. But Joomla has never disappointed me. I love the community!
Look through the handbook and best practices guide for help. Its pretty easy to install and configure for the most part. If you need something more complex, you may need to hire someone. It doesn't have as many free themes for download as Joomla/Mambo.
