Looking for CMS recommendation

    I currently own a large Legend of Zelda fan site (http://www.zeldacentral.net) and I'm looking to redo the entire site on a CMS, but I am yet to find a public Content Management System that suits my needs. Any recommendations?

    There must be fundamental differences between all the CMS's out there, but they are not obvious. I have been to the sites which compare all the features and even allow test drives. It seems like most CMS's can be made to all the same things. However, it would be very helpful to have some insight into the core design philosophy that makes a particular CMS work especially welll with certain kinds of projects. I am having a lot of trouble finding any information like that.

    For example, I have played with Wordpress and am working with joomla. I see posts/plugins that make Wordpress into more of a CMS and joomla into more of a blog. So what would make someone go one way or the other.

    In the case of the original poster, how did you eliminate the ones you listed? Are you confident you didn't eliminate one for a problem that could have been easily solved with a plugin?

    I am reminded of the old days when people said Visicalc was to slow; they didn't know you needed to turn off automatic recalculation when the spreadsheet got bigger :)
