I want to add mail list on my web site. member can subscribe newsletters (twice a week).

I searched on google, but not really sure which one is the best.

another thing is If i am using free service, can serivce provider steal my member's email? should I just build my own using free script?

I used to manage my mailing list with a free list service provider. My leads rapidly increased and I was working well with them until one day the free list website down. I lost my ENTIRE list!

That was a lesson for me that NEVER use a free list service if you are serious about your buisness.

I know several mailing list scripts with very powerful features but ask your webhost provider for a permission to install before you buy. Many host providers have strict limits on mailing list scripts.

It is true that most webhosts have limits on how many emails you can send on an hourly or daily basis.

Here is one I am using and it works quite well. It is Constant Contact.

They have a free 60-day trial if you have less than 100 subscribers. Anymore and they charge per month, but I think it starts at $9.95 per month.

I couldn't use the free trial because I have over 3,000 subscribers.

Always go for a hosted email service if you are afraid your webhost may shut you down!

I'm in the same quandary... I just want a simple mail list script for my website.

I hate hosting any part of my website elsewhere on the web, but finding a script to install on my servers is bleeding difficult!

Does anyone know enough about MySQL to seriously help me out? The idea is simple...

You put a form on the site which asks for your email address and if you want to subscribe or unsubscribe... when they click submit it interrogates the database to see if they are on there... if they're not on they're and they want to be added... it adds them - if they are on there it tells them they're already on there... if they want to unsubscribe the same thing happens but in reverse.

Then the back end of the script is where you write your message... it just needs to have a subject line and the body content. When you click submit - it goes to the MySQL database and gets the first email address, sends it... get's the second email address and sends it - and so on (it doesn't send it all at once because otherwise it would error and say too many recipients). When the script is finished, it gives the user a nice message to that respect.

It's such a simple script, but I just don't have the time to get my head around MySQL's or the sendmail command - but it could be easily written.

Does anyone have some spare time and the knowledge to help me out? We have no money to fund this (else we'd just buy a script!)... but if anyone does - please let me know by email.

    Thanks

Yup. Gmail seem like good alternative for you.

Aqua, I think I can help you with the script but my hand is both tight at the moment. How do you rate your web programming skills? It will help much better if I know your understanding toward the script.

    Cheers!
