Hello, fellow dp'ers I have the domain themezfree [dot] com. Now I know a general but vague idea of what I should turn the domain into but I am looking for some feedback as to what I should turn it into.. I was thinking just general css / xhtml templates etc but I am not to terribly sure just yet.. Any ideas / suggestions would be kindly thanked. Brett.
Depending on your graphic skills you could make your own wordpress/joomla/drupal themes, get sponsors and upload them to your site for people to download for free. I'm not sure if selling sponsors for wordpress themes is still profitable but it used to be a great way to make a few $$.
Maybe target a smaller niche, those markets are pretty saturated at the moment, what about skins for software like, windows media, mp3 players etc etc. Could be a good little side earner if promoted the right way.

Here's an idea. First, focus on a smaller niche like html/css templates which you seem to be comfortable with. Get some traffic coming and then add some "beta" sections like MySpace themes and "featured" sections for WordPress. When people see flashing icons near a section name like "WordPress themes [FLASHING]Featured[/FLASHING]", they usually tend to drop in and see what you have. Thats where I am having trouble, see I know how to program a bit with php, I am a webdesigner, and not a developer but I seem to sell my sites when they get to a decent starting point. (worldofwarcraftmacros.com) is an example sold when it had no pr, now it is a pr 2 and makes average of a $1 a day. Just the idea of developing something bigger is troubling me, I think wordpress themes would be a good idea, I can create wordpress themes just not excitingly proffesional ones, photoshop-ed [dot] com is an example of one of my recent sites I am kinda hovering on that I created. any other tips etc would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Brett.

go with proxy templates, proxy sites grow very fast, and if your sponsored is not removed, you will get a lot of visitors
see what I was thinking was starting off with a few sections and then later on broadening it into mutliple selections, like start off with free xhtml / css templates etc, then make it larger by adding themez for everything else. Anyways I am going to start working on some sort of a design for the site soon here, just gotta get my head around what to make the site about.
