Hello, I'm looking for a kind DMOZ editor who could check the status of my submission and let me know if the site has been rejected. Any help will be highly appreciated. I'll give the URL in a PM.
I'm not sure if I picked the correct category. If the site was rejected, I'd like to submit to a different category.
You should have continued on Agent000........and if it was not accepted it would be because the site is not listable and you would have to start from scratch and include vastly different material, probably about a different subject, minor tinkering with a site not accepted would not fix it. So knowing the status will not help you. If you are able to build a site with vastly different material on a different subject, why not just do it. You are welcome to submit a new URL, under those circumstances.
A regional suggestion without contact info ~ Minor tweak, accepted! a site with too many ads ~ removing a few ads, accepted! A sever error ~ reboot, accepted! A forum without content ~ no work on the part of the webmaster = content, accepted! The list goes one for ~ minor tweaks, accepted! However, knowing why it was rejected in MANY cases could in fact get the site listed quicker as it would show the webmaster what was wrong, especially for the little things like regional listings without contact info. Its BAD for the end user that those sites can never ever get re-listed according to what I just quoted you saying...
Bad in your opinion. If people did not waste our time becoming editors listing a couple of sites, including their own, and then jump ship, we might have more time to actually list sites. We never set ourselves up to have all the sites that could be listed, end users have to live with the restraints of using a volunteer run directory. None the less it is still the largest human edited directory and therefore far more likely to have the sites they want. So far not many of them complain, the complaints seem to come from website owners who can't get their sites listed and disaffected people who have a chip on their shoulders for one reason or another.
I already asked this today, but ARE YOU ON CRACK!?!?!? If more people would apply to be editors, list a handful of sites, and leave, then wouldn't that mean MORE would be getting done? I mean, the sites I added all are still there, even after the category was reviewed, so, erm.... what did I do wrong? OH YEAH, NOTHING... YOU ARE JUST TROLLING! So, can a site make it in after a slight tweak after rejection or not? You completely didn't reply to my post in favor of a personal attack AGAIN! Though, this time you trailed off after the bit about me to say nothing. *boggle*
Do you realise how much meta editor time is taken up in researching and accepting new editors. Obviously not. No tweaking will not bring sites up to scratch.
