Looking for advice/suggestions on improving these search results

I'm looking for some help figuring out some search results I see with my site vs several 'competitor' sites.

My forum is primarily a youtube forum and was launched about 6 weeks ago.

The 3 forums I'm comparing to are:
    A) youtubecommunityforum . com (PR=4, 54 backlinks)
    B) youtube.forummotion . com (PR=1, 547 backlinks)
    C) youtubetalk . com (PR=2, 20 backlinks)
    my forum) http://www.cyberstarforum.com PR=0, 221 backlinks)
    (backlinks per backlinkwatch.com)

I believe all 3 are dead- the admins stopped posting years ago- in the case of the first 2, and who knows for the 3rd one- it's private and the admins never replied to approve my registration a few months back.

When I google "youtube forum" (in quotes), I see the following results:
    A) Pg 1, #5
    B) Pg 1, #3
    C) Pg 1, #6
    me) Pg 2, #5

not too bad, almost to page 1.

But- when I google youtube forum without the quotes, I see this:
    A) Pg 1, #3
    B) Pg 1, #8
    C) Pg 1, #7
me) not in 33 pages of results

So, my question is- what are the factors that are resulting in such a difference between me getting to page 2 with the 2-word quoted search vs not even on the radar with the 2 words individually?
What do I need to investigate or improve on?
Is it simply a matter of the PR 0 killing me?
Or the time my site has been up?
Or the fact the others have the word "youtube" in the URL?
Again, these 3 forums are clearly pretty much dead, so no one is out there working on their SEO.

I have the words "youtube forum" in my HTML <title>, and sprinkled around in text in the forums.

As an SEO newbie, I'm just lookin for clues...

    Thx
