Looking for Advice: Does Private Domain Registration hurt SERPS?

    Hi All,
Just looking for thoughts on the following...
I want to renew my domain registration, and I am thinking about using one of those private proxies.

I know that Google looks at time of registration, length, etc, but would using this type of proxy hurt?

The reason I am considering it, is that I have another domain that I have basically never used, and I have gotten tons of spam to the email address used to register (even though I have never used it) so I thought using the private proxy would help.

Obviously, if Google penalizes me for it, this is a huge negative and I will just have to put up with the spam.

    Any thoughts?

    Morty

From experience I tweaked/changed the whois record from public to private and it never affected Serps.

Wonder of Sergey and Co. would feel differently about the whole idea if they had their personal home address, phone number and e-mail address out there for the world to see?

It's long been hypothesized that Google is/will be tracking how many domains are registered to a given individual in an effort to avoid sespammers and parked pages devoid of real content. No evidence to date (Other than some bloggers musings), but enough so that it would make more sense to have a heavily spam filtered free email account for all your whois, imho.
Besides, if you ever hope to sell the site/domain, might as well make it as easy as possible for the buyer to find you. That doesn't mean put your home addie up there with what time you go to sleep and which windows are the children's, but you can use a PO box and AIM phone # fine if need be.
