Looking for a yellow pages style business directory script...

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The directory will be for bricks and mortar business not for linking sites.

I am willing to consider scripts that aren't free.

    Thank you.

I've been looking for this for a very long time, and have come to the conclusion that it just doesn't exist. The closest thing you can get is using PHPld with a few 3rd party plugins for google maps and other things, but to me -that still doesn't cut it.

If a good directory script for brick-and-mortar businesses doesn't exist (yet) does anyone have a link to site that has a business directory that they like. Maybe I'll have to have a script programmed for me. I'd prefer to use an existing software solution but maybe there isn't one.

PHPmydirectory - looks pretty decent. I've heard of it but have forgotten about it over the years.

PHPyellow - the site looks like it's from the 90s, and the demo doesn't work...

iLister - seems promising, and is well designed - but is lacking in features...the individual pages to a little too bare.

eSyndicat - I'm not sure how they can fulfill the Yellowpages.com clone idea, it's a web directory.

Definitely NOT looking for a link directory here, and I would prefer not to buy link directory software and attach a ton of modifications to it to serve the purpose.

You are right about eSyndicat. At some point I thought I had come across a website that was "© 2009 Powered by eSyndiCat Directory Software" and they had made their listings look somewhat like a yellow pages directory. I must have been mistaken because I can't find it any longer.

I'll have to look more in depth at PHPmydirectory.

This is a script niche that needs to be filled.

I think this is something that can definitely be done with Wordpress. I wish the guy who created Classipress for Wordpress would make this, it would be awesome.

This actually looks really good! I'm interested in seeing a demo of that 2nd software package you're working on.

Currently we are working on yellow pages addon for esyndicat software. It will be released in January 2010. Why not try now? Install Google Map plugin, Locations plugin and add some fields :)

here is one example how the software can be customized
    http://www.georgia-yellowpages.com/

I'm not sure if site owner still works on it, Anyway, the site is built using esyndicat platform

Looks really pretty good however using Joomla architecture kind of limits the chance of me using it.
