Can anyone tell me how I collect emails, or where to download a script that does something similar.

Example: www.itsaproxy.com at the very top.

    Any ideas?

aweber.com is great... I use them and I can recommend them to anyone who is serious about building or maintaining a list.

Cant view proxy sites due to our firewalls but assume you are talking about a "join our mailing list" type thing.

Normal process is to have a very simple script to insert the entry from the text box into a database. You should have an opt out option on all the emails you said via it and so to be compliant to different countries rules it is generally best to have an "email" field, "status" and "last modified" as a minimum so when someone opts out you change the status rather than deleting it.

The risk of not doing this is if you buy a mailing list in the future it may contain someone who has specifically asked not to be mailed by yourself and so in the UK at least you would be breaking the law by mailing them

I guess it's because so many kids want to access myspace and other sites at school and work.
