    Hi,

Is there a free tool on the net (google) that will allow one to know how many uniqe visitors any site gets a day/month?

    Thanks

If the site is among the top most visited sites in the web, you could check Alexa, but it is not always accurate.

Generally Site Stats tracking sites which show the stats to the public don't index small visitor scale sites as it would be very difficult for them to index so many sites and display their stats to the public.

Few people may be uncomfortable with their site stats shown publicly too.

StatCounter and Google Analytics are the two I prefer.

If it's your site just use StatCounter or Google Google Analytics.
For just random sites - check the Alexa rank to get a rough idea about the traffic.

like mentioned above google analytics is the way to go, its accurate and free of course, otherwise you can also install some scripts directly onto your server/hosting like for example awstats or mint etc..

i would not suggest alexa as this ranking depends on how many users browse your site with the alexa toolbar installed.

Google analytics is the tracker of choice
It's free and pretty accurate. You get a very comprehensive report

I'll tell you this for free, anyone in this business who is not tracking their traffic is leaving money on the table
