I am looking into costs/time associated with getting a site built for a colleague. Essentially, he's looking for a site much like: http://www.grabitnow.com/ www.boffer.co.uk www.woot.com The first two are closer to his expectations. Initially there would be two pages: The offer page itself - including a countdown timer A page detailing contact details, returns procedure etc. The main page would need a countdown timer. He already has other separate internet interests, so he has merchant account, protx and paypal setup - these would need integrating. There would need to be a basic CMS behind it to allow a daily change to the offer, product detail, image upload, price etc If people can provide a rough estimate on cost & time that would be great. Also, if there's anything important I've left out, please let me know. Hosting & domain will not be required as they are in hand. Thanks
You might also want to post on elance and get bids from several reputed providers. I've had good experience with them in the past. Cheers!
don't listen to people who say it can be done in 4 weeks and under a thousand. Any successful website such as woot.com has years of development and very extensive code that will be very expensive to duplicate and even that can only be done by a talented team of programmers. a simple e-commerce shopping cart website, however, is inexpensive and can be built quickly.
i agree with califmerchant if they say it can be done in under 4 weeks for that price they are usually going to rip you off in the long run.
^Unfortunately, most people don't pay attention to such warnings. People want fast, fast, fast and often times cheap, cheap, cheap!!!! I personally believe in slow and well-done instead of fast and buggy. Call me old-fashioned.
I agree with Mick, nobody can't get the three things Chep - Fast- Quality. If any one is available, i have the zencart job available for such professional.
Also, whoever quotes you...make sure that you factor in time for enhancements in case it doesn't work right the first time.
