My site is targeting people who want to donate cars to non-profit organizations.

I was trying to keep the look professional. What do you think?

    car donations

I can take the review straight :)

the overall layout dosn't rele hit you in the face or grab you attention (IMO) also i dont think the buttons/menu colour suites the rest of the layout.

I think the main logo is 'Scrunched up' - yes, thats the technical term ;)

It looks a little boring. Show a car maybe?

I understand the ad generating motive...but I really think a site like this should offer better information and be more complete?!

I agree that it needs some photos of cars or something to spruce it up a bit. It does feel a bit scrunched as well.

"You can start by looking at the links at the top of the page, there are 4 companies listed there."

I can't decide whether that's crafty or too obvious.

I agree with rhinoplayer more information would help. Also that menu needs some work. It looks unprofessional. At the very least don't center the text in the menu. Pick a side.

Overall a great start. Keep at it.

yeah i get that too, i'd set the header image to the right dimensions to stop it. i'd also add say 5px worth of padding around the logo so it's not so close to the edge of the border.

it def needs an image of a car in the main content. also i had a very quick look at your code, and your templating system (whatever you're using but i'll assume it's dreamweaver) is buggering stuff up. i counted a number of <body> <html> type tags that really should only be used once.

just a minor thing, it'd be nice if the page had a bottom that fits in with the sides/top.

other than the things already mentioned, it looks great :) just needs some tweaks here and there.

Tricking people into clicking your ads? Not nice.

About the layout, add something colorful to it, something with more presence than your logo.

Also, it'd be nice if you had links to relevant sites and to actual charities.

This was definately written just for AdSense as it is real skimpy on content. You have a page "Where do I donate" and it doesn't actualyy tell you where you can.

If I came across this site when looking to donate a car I would leave within a few seconds.

I suppose thats what you are after - to provide so little information that people are forced to click the ads.

Although the title of this thread is misleading unless you are donating ALL revenue from the site. Something tells me you are not ;)

Ok, I'll try to respond too all of these comments...thanks for all of them!

Azakers - I need to re-do the logo with a few cars, but haven't had the chance yet :)

Rhino, I have been adding more content, and re-writing some parts...I wrote all of that one day, so my mind was mushy towards the end.

bustour, I think I need to change that part as well...I think it might be too crafty :)

grantmoney, I am using nVu...this thing is great, but it wants to add info to every page whether I want it to or not...I'll have to go through wordpad and remove everything...

marinaroz, I created this site as a profitable site, nothing more...I will be adding information about various charities. Hopefully they will advertise with adsense and then people will be able to visit their sites.

yfs1, sorry about the misleading title...i was originally looking for a review as if it were a non-profit site...not meaning that it was a non-profit. my fault on that.

Any other suggestions? Thanks for all of them so far.

It would be helpful to have a list of places were you could donate too, such as kidney cars. You mention there are a ton of places, but you don't actually list any.

    good luck

    Wendy,

I'm at odds with the site as to whether to link to those sites or not.

If I link them I lose traffic and therefore money...If I don't, the site isn't informative as it could be...

How about work to get that content on your site so you don't need to direct people away form you, and are still getting people the information.

I do understand what you are saying, but as an information site, people will need to know where to actually donate their cars, unless that is something that you were going to do.

in any case, it's a good cause, and good luck with the site!

Thanks wendy, I just don't want to provide too much info, then people won't need the strategically placed ads...

I'll figure something out eventually :)

The site has only been open for 4 days, and hasn't had a click to an ad yet, so I don't know what kind of return it will be, that will influence my decision as well as to which type of content to add more of.

MSN will like me in a few weeks, then I'll tinker more.
