Hi guys, I am looking for a natural way to start building visitors to my site. Can you give me an advice from a marketing point of view. Only achieving around 350-UV's per month from scratch so need advice to build. Currently submitting articles, yahoo answers, ads. etc. Probably hardest part is incoming links with such a competitive industry. If you want some free high pagerank backlinks, you should try dofollow blog commenting. This could give you a boost in SERP's which in turn would send you more visitors. In fact, I've even got a really easy way to build free high pagerank dofollow backlinks - check it out.
Do some research on popular keyword strings in your niche and write content that caters to these. Post regularly on forums in your niche - eg my niche (trading and the financial markets) has over 30 solid forums to become involved with.
All you have to do is social bookmark at least 10 times a day or more. It will bring in more then 500+ UV's a month.
Personally, creating a blog which in turn is about your business or site in some way. Blog commenting on other blogs associated with yours helps drive visitors to your blog, and then in turn your site. This is a SLOW method of bringing in traffic, but it IMHO it is great traffic to have.
Another way of getting some exposure for your site is to develop profiles on social networking sites and adding friends with related interests, eg I've been working on the following for my trading website: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=170095908 it's a slow process but does pay off. In the long run however I think your time is best invested in creating well researched, high quality unique content that will continue to pay off over the years - I know it's hard to focus on this when you are starting out and eager to gain traffic but you have to keep in mind the long term dividends it will pay...
