Looking for a meta search engine script

    Hey all,

Hope this is in the right place...

I've been reading up a little bit and I've been trying to find a script that works as a meta search engine, allowing me to search multiple search engines and place the results in one form.

Using a virtual database instead of a physical one would be easiest, so maybe using RSS feeds or something...

I had a quick look in google and found a few payed scripts, but I wondered if one existed for free, which was customisable.

If not free, can anyone make recommendations as I might have a bit more money to hand in a few weeks.

I'm looking into making a kind of media portal and I wanted the option to have my own search engine.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Regards.

I personally don't know any free ones. Try these:

    biznetic.com
    http://chatologica.com/site/FMSE.php

    However if you wish just PM and I shall make you a custom search engine using my search engines database for free. {no adverts needed ect}

I've come accross one or two, like this K-Search, but its $69 and you have to pay by credit card instead of paypal :(

    http://turn-k.net/k-search

Basically, I'm after a script that will merge the search results of different search results and allow me to add my sponsors, like this K-search, but it doesn't look like I can do this for cheap :(

PHPDig is not really a Meta search is it EGS? I mean it is a small site crawler. I may be wrong, correct me if I am!

I've just had a look at the K-Search product - looks great.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

If I wanted to just display a search engine, instead of a meta search engine, I've been looking into google api, etc and I was wondering if that would be easier and if they were any premade scripts to make it easier?

    I think it is..
Why wouldn't it be? It indexes and ranks sites based on meta tags. Isn't that what a meta search engine is? :)

Nope. I can't work out if your joking. If not, a Meta Search is a search engine that searchs lots of search engines at onc,e eg yahoo and google!

There are some nice solutions here. Do these scripts use the Google co-op API?
