I am not as tech based as most members here, and have a problem which needs tech insight.

I downloaded a software program, and it doesn't extract and install properly. I have WindowsXP.
I tried using IE7, then firefox1.5. have installed and uninstalled, and rebooted, and researched internet 3 days looking for a solution.

    I disable firewall before download.
I have downloaded it from 3 different sites, no diff.

It goes through setup wizard, but only partially opens, any function gives an error message, and then freezes program immediately. Have to use TaskManager to close it. Cannot "x" out.

I asked two friends, also XP, to download and run. NO PROBLEMS, it installed and ran fine for both of them.

The program site does not provide support or help for the free version software, only paid upgraded.

Is there a setting or something you can think of that is restricting full installation? please!

Hoping you can help, and thank you.

Try redownloading it. It's happened to me before where the file wasn't fully complete and the installation wouldn't work.

Also before you download again, Delete all your Temporary Internet Files in IE and clear the cache then go to C:\windows\temp and delete all the files in there... Then download again and see if it will install...

You could also get your friends to burn the Setup Program to CD for you and send it to you to try...

It's possible you are just getting a "Corrupted Version" for some reason...

You can also go here and sign up and post your problem, we have a lot of knowledgeable people and one of them should be able to help... G4 Tech Support...

It is probably becoming corrupted from a virus. This is a common problem that occurs from a virus--programs are installed only halfway due to being corrupted or the virus taking its spot in a location where the program needs to be installed. Do you have a spyware scanner and a virus scanner? Check here on how to clean the basics:
    http://www.cleancomputerhelp.com/how-to-cleanup

It may be in your temp folder, who knows. Follow the directions in that link. Then download a fresh copy. PM me if you can't resolve the issue after that.
