Hi all Thanks for reading, I am building a website in Dreamweaver and although things are trotting along quite well I keep getting problems when previewing through different browsers. Basically if I get the page to look right in Firefox, it looks a bit out in explorer and vice versa. Could anyone take a look and see if there is anything obvious which could be causing the problem and let me know how to fix it without majorly adjusting the layout. I would also appreciate any feedback as to be honest, I've spent so much time staring at this thing I can't tell if it looks good or utter crap Thanks The page is http://www.ewegotit.com
And that is why we all hate IE In either case, you can start off by lowercasing your tags. This won't correct the problem but your code will not validate WC3. I just checked it and it appears to be the same in both browsers. Is there a particular spot that you are noticing?
The validator picked up lots of little bugs, but they are really easy to fix http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.ewegotit.com once you sorted these, then i will look at the layout.
I love the sheep and the domain name. Very clever and easy to remember. Awesome job with that. I think there needs to be more that hits the user when they first land on your home page. Right now I see a very clever logo/sheep banner which draws me in and makes me want to find out what you are about. But then there is a hard-to-read 'about us' and then a hole bunch of text. Nobody wants to read that much text. I'd say you should make it look more like Google. Simple. There are a ton of ads, too. Why not go with fewer ads...I believe you might get a better ctr on those ads if you have less of them and it would make your site look like it really is there for the content. Right now the user might not believe you when you say you are here for the content. I do love the ewe idea and I love the graphic of the ewes. Just make us believe you've got great content by limiting the amount of ads and limiting the introduction to a few choice sentences. Also, I'd say get rid of the 'about us' and draw us in more with something a little more witty...think about what the user is looking for and talk to them...something like, "We've got What EWE want: Content with Quality!" I don't know, something that speaks to your user. Sorry for the rambling.
Thanks for the feedback guys My fault...but it's actually this page that's giving me grief. I think it's to do with having the images in a layer within a table http://www.ewegotit.com/fashion.htm I'll have a crack at removing all those annoying bugs... didn't realise there were so many! So thanks for that resource Also carjam... thanks for your post. It is really helpful not at all a ramble. If that's what you feel when arriving at my page then it's likely you aren't the only one. I've been fiddling around with the ad's to see what looks best I think I might have got a little carried away Thanks again
Hi Bacanze I had a crack at sorting out the errors but there are 11 remaining which all relate to two of the google ads... I just copied and pasted the code into my page so not sure whether changing them would stop them working or if leaving them as they are is a big issue. It does seem a little odd that this is causing errors, have you came across this before?
