Looking for a GREAT Dedicated Server

    Hi guys & gals,
I'm about to start up a webtools website and was testing all the tools on one of my shared hosting accounts, but it times out due to the fact that they don't allow scripts to run for more than 60 sec. so system resources won't be exhausted.
I'm looking for a dedicated server... relatively cheap as I probably won't be making any real money off of it and will be just providing the tools free for use.
Anyone know of GREAT not good GREAT dependable cheap dedicated servers ?
    Thanks.

ThePlanet is very good. I have a coupon code you can use to get a discount too if you want it.

Dont forget about server administration either. Make sure to get defined what the host will take care of. No matter what the service, your server will be no good if you dont have the admin tasks taken care of.

Well I used to run my own server.
(I used to have a cable connection that allowed incoming requests on most web traffic ports. (ftp www https etc...)), but then one day they just started to block it... I had it for about a year... So i'm not really such a newbie when it comes to server administration.
But thanks for pointing it out ServerUnion and I will check them out.
seubseo: what's the difference between vps and a d.s.?

Mystikmedia: how much of a discount does the coupon give? :) I will take a look at them as well.

Also I was checking out Layered Technologies. They seem to offer a good service. Don't know much about them though. Can anyone give any positives/negatives about them?

VPS is that you get the part of the server, isolated from all the other parts, so that it is almost like as if you were running your own server, but you are still sharing the resources (cpu, memory,...) and no one limits you as far as execution time is concerned. And it's cheaper than dedicated, because you are in fact getting only a part of dedicated.

Well lets say that I'm running a keyword tracker for 100's of users and on average about 20 keywords per user and I know not everyone is going to check all keywords at once, but I wouldn't want to exhaust all of the systems resources.
That's why i'm mainly looking towards a dedicated server. Because that would just be one of many tools I will begin to offer and all of them will need to have unlimited resources to use.

Sorry to bring this thread back up, but I thought I found a good dedicated hosting company (sectorlink). Turns out that they couldn't verify my creditcard information. I've spoken with them on the pfone numerous times, told them to call my bank and everything and what they came up with was sorry can't verify your information. Personally I think this a crock of sh**. I asked them can't you all take orders over the phone? They said no, which I believe is kind of retarded, but anyway.
Now I'm looking for a cheap somewhat managed dedicated hosting company.
Something between $70-$90 monthly. No setup fee. Good uptime. Good Support. When I say somewhat managed I mean that they update with latest patches and things of this sort.
So if you know of any please help me out.
I'm currently looking at layered technologies: http://www.layeredtech.com/layer1.php?g=13
They seem to have a pretty good offer going.

If you know of any other please let me know.
    Thanks.

I have a couple servers with EV1 They are a huge datacenter in texas and are always on top of things. I have had a few issues, but they were related to free host clients putting scripts on their free hosting accounts that screwed up my server, so not ev1's fault.
