    I just picked up musicteacherdirectory.com

Ive been looking for a decent directory script for a few hours now. All I want is a good looking script that will allow profile pages, 50 States in the US Hyperlinked, Categories, and Pictures on the front pages for premium listings... Short Bio, website link, Contact, etc.. On profile page.

Client Login upload their own stuff, Pay Pal etc...

    Any suggetions?

You can try my script, LinkEnginePro. At the moment I'm trying to import USA states and cities (around 25k cities).

Client Login upload their own stuff im not 100% on what you may be doing there.

Phpld is good and it has a free version...

Just curious to know whether it has inbuilt article directory or not ( free version)?

PHPLD can handle all that and much more. All you need to do is just pay a little amount of money to David to handle the customization job. That's what I did and many others are doing the same.

My name is, My website is, My business is, Upload my picture. Like a Directory, you get to write a description, upload an image, place your url , etc. Sign in and add their profile page..

I guess Im looking for more of a Linked In kind of Site - SUggestions? I need to showcase different musicians on my front page.. Not just categories with links.

There are a few decent directory scripts - most been mentioned already.

The best directory script I have seen is eDirectory - flat out awesome but very pricey.

There is no directory script I know that can handle all you want out of the box, but you can customize PHPLD to do whatever you want it to do. Talk to David about your requirements and let him handle it.

I'm in the same situation...I'm trying to do some research on which is the best edirectory script out there and I keep hearing edirectory's name. I've been to their demodirectory what feels like a million times and every time i'm there i'm amazed with their product. I been haggling with them over the price for the last few weeks, and i finally got them to give me one of their 15% discount codes. They gave me " arca15f " as their promo code.

So my question is even with the 15% discount, do you think this script is worth it? I'm looking at roughly $1700 for the license and their portal package that gives me all the tabs you see on their demo.

    Please help. Thanks

I honestly don't know if edirectory is worth the price or not, since I haven't used it. It all depends on your budget and how you expect to get the money back.

To determine if it is worth it you need to know the features you want on your site. Does eDirectory meet all those features and requirements?

Then ask yourself if any of these other scripts mentioned meet your requirements. If not - How much modding would it take to get them there?

Here is the thing - If you want to end up with all the features of eDirectory - Modding those features into a less expensive script would result in you probably paying more than that $1700 and getting less of a script.

When I think of all I have put into my site - $1700 is not too bad at all.

The way eDirectory requires a $400ish annual support fee to even get future upgrades still irritates me though.

Something you consider is installing Joomla 1.5 and then using Sobi2.
    See link here http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/directory-&-documentation/directory/1113/details

    Demo and official link http://joomla.sigsiu.net/

I am pretty sure that you can upload images as well it's very customizable.
