Search Engine Results Tracking Tool The purpose of this script will be to track how specific keywords rank in google for a specific site. Example, when a user goes to google and types in the keyword, "youtube" where does my site "savingyoutube.com" appear in the results. If it ranks on page 2 position 1, an 11 would be saved in the database for the that keyword that day. These results will be displayed in a spreadsheet like manner. The Website will be displayed at the top of the section, with keywords in the left column, and results to the right. At the top of the results column will be the dates for the results. website.com 1/1 1/2 1/3 keyword1 3 3 3 www.savingyoutube.com keyword2 5 6 8 savingyoutube.com/faq.html keyword3 23 20 19 savingyoutube.com/faq.html keyword4 44 29 21 savingyoutube.com/someotherpage.php Page results will be checked once per day. There will need to be a 1 second delay between each query sent to the server to prevent being blacklisted. Coder will identify in the script notes where to manually change the delay time. The ability to keep notes on each individual keyword will be necessary. A user may need to add a note saying he promoted a certain keyword on a specific day, or made changes to a site. This could be a running notepad for each keyword. The user could annotate which day which change was made, and would be appended to a running log for that keyword. The resulting page will also be displayed in the results. For the example above, if the page returned is http://savingyoutube.com/faq.html, this should be listed. If the result points to the main site, then http://savingyoutube.com would be displayed. Each day today's results will be appended to the display. Results will be kept in a mysql database. Programming will be be object oriented to allow for easily adding more modules, or features in the future. The user will be able to add a site and keywords that will be searched for to that site on a "add" page. These entries will be kept in teh database, and will be polled each day. This site will be very basic looking, and will only be used for myself and a couple friends. No graphics will be needed. Please let me know your thoughts for this project.
