Hi all, I'm looking to get a book in php programming. I've searched this forum and the internet but I can't find what I'm looking for. Surely there must be a book which stands out from the rest, one which is generally renowned as being the best? I'm looking for one of or the best php book which will take me from being a complete novice to being comfortable and competent php scripter. I feel I'm at a point where being confident with php will help me do so so much more with my websites. Are there any particularly good books which will, in effect, take me from beginner to experienced/semi expert? Thanks, Dan
The book that got me going was PHP and MySql Web Development by Welling and Thomson and published by Sam's Developer's Library collection It is not a beginner's book. It dives in and works on a project. I found that most useful. I am sure, there are as many other favorites and books that got people going as there are people visiting this forum. In the end, it is the book whose author's think the most like you that is going to carry yuou forward the furthest. However, I would caution you, it is not how many books you read that transform you from a beginner to an experienced/semi expert coder . . . it is the amount of code you right . . . and answers you seek while doing so.
Been looking on amazon and "PHP and MySQL for Dynamic Web Sites (Visual QuickPro Guides)" seems to have alot of good reviews, does anybody have any experience with this book?
so far my experience with books on programming i find Wrox books good for learning... and whatever book you choose not gonna make you expert over night... all you have to do is do practice more and more practice... "Practice makes a ma perfect"
