to run on php and mysql

I'm look for somne sort of Blorum or Flog, I guess... I want to be able to post articles etc, and have registered members contribute to a subsequent thread... but i want the original articles to form long term content, with the responses to then build on the content as a discussion.

I also want to be able to categorise each article so that navigation to article category is simple...

    RSS feed would be good

    Any ideas? Favourites? Why?

WordPress or Movable Type both do what you need. I'd go for WP but that's just cos I'm used to it.

WordPress is already set up to provide a feed. As for displaying the feed you might check out "Carp."

I also agree that WP is the way to go. If you do a search on Wordpress.org you can find several people using it in a very similiar fashion to what you want to do. It's all based on how you set up your template layout. There was one site I came across that was using it as sort of a cross between a message board and article index. The wordpress folks also have a forum script, and I believe there are plugins that tie the two together.

Not to mention on all the mods available. You've just got to dig in and play with it.
