ok the execution is great, but the concept is not so good. Portfolio sites are supposed to be professional and adult-like because you will be dealing with adult clients or at least mature clients. I love your ability but this looks like it came out of a children's story book illustration and so when I see this I would automatically think "meh ill find another client I can tell he is not amazing at graphics" and that is just a FIRST impression, ofcourse your work will prove otherwise, but first impressions are the lasting impressions.
thx all for replies *i use flash cos im goin to be flash designer i dont know xHTML and CSS so good. *Krysis - it supposed to be "children's story book illustration" as u called it ;] cos this was my first imagination of folio when i thoutgh about it. of course clients can say "thats too childish" but its my own folio so i dont mind. I think professional "adult" works u will be able to find in "folio" or "more". i respect all opinions and i believe my next portfolio will be more professional Im just askin how it looks ? tell me what about my drawing skill, tell me what about my animation skills, tell me what about overall impression when u see it greetings
Nothing wrong with a creative portfolio site when you're in a creative industry. A lot of people are against using Flash because it's crap for SEO, or because they're married to their iPhone. Other people think it's great, and if that's what you're mostly working with then it absolutely should be used to build your portfolio. However, having said all that, it is missing something. Having it squished over to one side of the screen like that isn't great for a start, and I think the navigation could do with being a bit more readable without having to be hovered over. On the folio page the white border around each item doesn't look very smooth, and there's no indication that clicking one follows an outbound link, it might be better to have a little bit of blurb about each project when you click or hover, and then a "visit site" option so people know what they're getting. Obviously you still have a lot of work to do on it (no title tag, nothing in "home" or "about") so I'd be interested to see the finished site.
Ofc i've got a lot of work to do with this portfolio i didnt work on HTML code yet. In week or two it will be all finished, then i hope everyone will like my portfolio. peace *Edit. No1 gave me opinion about "Day n' Night" option check it and tell me pls. there u can change background ;p
for displaying a Flash portfolio, you've got to be all creative and artistic! the clients coming to you for flash projects may want to see everything that you've got, so showoff dude! the site you've designed is great, but please fix its resolution...
Oh aye I forgot to say, when you're in night mode you can only see the "day" link because the night link is essentially black on black, so I didn't realise what it was at first it just seemed liked a random word in the sky.
It looks good but it also looks very childish and unprofessional. I would personally not use flash and try and make the site in HTML/Javascript.
It looks very nice. I like the creativity of it and your images do look very good. I would suggest that you shorten the height of the image. There is a lot of extra space (sky) between the menu and your logo. If I do not have my browser maximized I do not see your logo on the bottom of the site unless I scroll down. your users will not know who you are. Julie
It depends for what are you using it. I think that usage of flash in creating portofolio is pretty acceptable. And congratulations to author, he has developed pretty good skills with Flash, however, there are some more things to be learned. Dor example, 100% background for all resolutions would be nice
dude flippin awesome!!!!! lol Yea b professional if you want professional clients but if you enjoy making comic book flash things go for it! Nice Job!!
Hi Omik, I have seen your Website, dear first of all ask your web developer to do it center align as it is left aligned also you need to improve the presentation of text specially Day and Night (make it little bigger)… Thanks
i know about align, will be changed in few days since i need to finish it by 14th thanks for clue about "day n' night" i'll change it
Hello Omik, The Design looks great and I like the idea. As many people said that Flash is not very recommended but I'll say that that its not outdated as well. I think the clients would take some time to browse your portfolio. As Thomas said, just align it to center and one more thing that I noticed is that its a bit slow/heavy on the browser. Add a little motion to it. That would be great. But again it looks great. Good work. Regards, RoyalTouchDesigns
