http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=245091&page=1&pp=25 BId right now at $1,800 Damn, when I was 13 I was still getting 5 bucks a week from my parents
That's you Oh come on Tone - stop denying it. ..Don't you remember at school when the boys used to fight and make fun of the girls they fancied and vice verca. Well DP is our playground
The thing about reading that thread over there that Fryman posted, well it just makes me think there are two Shawn's on the loose in this world
Does anyone else find the idea of a site that used 3-6 gigs/day to make $16 unusual? Seems like it would lead to some interesting server management issues if you try to scale the site up by one or two orders of magnitude.
Smart kid. Didn't know he was so young. Jeez, all I was worried about at that age was girls and surfing.
I say good for "The Josher." The kid is off to a great start if he can create something in a few months that he can sell for $2k at the age of 13. Sure he is going to learn a lot more by doing things like that than he will in his overcrowded history class.
Well, he will learn different things by doing this then he will in history class It is quite impressive though! I hope he gets a good laptop outta it
Hey Chachi, Josh is home schooled, maybe that's why he is so advanced. I wish I knew what he already knows, but that is but a dream man
AC, you know more than he does. Josh is fortunate that he is not hindered by knowing too much...or thinking he does. I was over a a very good friend's house 2 weeks ago. His 4 year old son is taking Tae Kwon Do. My friend was telling us how great Tae Kwon Do has been for his son and at a recent "open house" at the dojo, the master called his son up in front of the entire school, including parents, friends and peers. The master told everyone that kids will do whatever you tell them to do. He told my friend's son to do what he does...and then he did a flying, backwards roundhouse kick (or something crazy like that). My friend's son just tried to do it as soon as he was done. Of course he ate crap as he spun himself around backwards in the air with his leg out, but he got right back up and tried it again. AC, you and I would not have tried it in the first place because we would be thinking that we would blow out a knee or twist an ankle. He doesn't know that those kind of things can happen to him, he just knows that some guy can do this kick and figures that means he can too. As we get older, it seems the knowledge we learn can sometimes get in our way, don't you agree old chap?
Chachi, I am talking about programming know how, not life know how But don't let Josh fool you, he is hip in a lot of life stuff too, more than you would think for a young man his age. I told him when he joined DP that he would grow up fast, how would you have liked it if you had a resource like DP when you were 13 with old timers to help you everyday Josh has that natural gift that Shawn has talked about in coding that one either has or he does not.
Little Josh? Hehe.. well, its my first time selling a site And yeah.. it does use a lot of bandwidth, and right now I'm hosting it for free on the host I run.. but its straining a lot of resources. iBook here I come I hope not. Next Linus Torvalds maybe, but Bill Gates is my arch enimy Josh
