All spiders are poisonous, yes. However, some are capable of putting people in the hospital, or (in the case of the black widow spider) even kill you.

Most are just minor annoyances though.

The thing with spiders though, is that if they're around you enough, they'll come to recognize you and may even trust you. Neither my brother nor I ever got bit by Igore, and he'd be more than willing to walk up onto our hands and just hang out whenever we'd let him out of his tank. He also loved walking around on the beds too.

He was pretty damn cool as far as arachnids go.

All spiders have venomous fangs which they use to kill their prey (other insects). Most of the poison though isn't strong enough to even affect us, those that are fall into three groups. Minor annoyance, head to the emergency room, and hope you wrote your Last Will and Testament.

Of the spiders that can affect humans, the vast majority of them fall into the first group (you might notice a little bump, but that's about it). The latter two include species like the brown recluse spider and black widow.

I was at a meusuem few years ago, and seen this spider that could eat birds!! :| was a bit shocked lol. The thing was huge.

We'll i'm going to write a note on the CD case saying poisonious dont touch, and head off sleep.

Come down in the morning with a pair of old trainers, an do the job.

I really don't want to, but if its poisonous, it could hurt some one around this area real bad. There are often kids around, and a school close by.

I just hope I don't have to chase it! That thing was fast to be honest :p

Sohan, is there a museum with an entomologist nearby that you could take the spider to?

You don't need to destroy that spider. If it is a Brown recluse, then the only way someone would die from it would be infection (from scatching the bite).

It looks like a wolf spider to me. There are a lot of different types of wolf spiders (the tarantula is one) most of them are completely harmless. In fact most tarantulas are harmless as well. Take the thing outside and release it. Remember that it is a living creature :)

Just step on it. The spider is really not very large.

It's not the size of a spider that determines it's poisonous power. There are very small spiders that are extremely poisonous. The "daddy long legs" is the most poisonous spider in the world but they are harmless because their fangs are to small to penetrate the skin. At least that's what they say.

    Yep that is true.

Also according to some statistics I read (cant recall where) there are more people killed in the US each year by pop (soda) machines falling on them than there are from all poisonous spiders, insects and snakes combined!

So instead of being afraid of spiders maybe we should be afraid of that Coke machine! :D

Actually the Black Widow spider's venom is far more poisonous than a Daddy Long Legs.

I need to head to bed, and I won't be here tomorrow, but when I return I'll dig up my sources and cite them for you.
