    good for that site, my site got more than 300 inbound link but had a hard time getting high in yahoo.. hmm.

    As mentioned, look at the quality of links. If you do link:"site name" then you would see that this site is having tons of educational site links which SE trust a thousand times more than the directory links. So that is the reason why that site is ranking high!
