Look at these meta tags

    I spend time looking over things that the more popular sites do. For a certain site, I looked at their meta tag usage, and they caught me as strange.

    <meta name="classification" content="Fantasy Football">
    <META NAME="robots" CONTENT="index, follow">
    <META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="INDEX, FOLLOW">
    <meta name="revisit-after" content="3 days">
    <meta name="site-language" content="English">
    <meta name="geo.placename" content="Albuquerque">
    <meta name="geo.country" content="US">
    <meta name="state" content="NM">

    Is there a useful purpose to location meta tags? I cant see how
    A googlebot meta tag? has anyone ever seen this used? Is it even recognized by google?
    And the classification meta tag, is that beneficial in any way? Is it really a recognized tag?

    I agree, no real benefits....

    SE's don't care about revisit and index, follow....
    They do what they want....

    They will listen to noindex, nofollow becasue their guidelines require it, but as far as follow and revisit, geo and such - no real use.....

    The keywords and description meta tags are the only ones you definately should include. Meta tags such as <META NAME="robots" CONTENT="index, follow"> is just pointless IMHO as bots will crawl your pages anyway.. you dont need to tell them to.

    Instead of posting pages full of adsense banners why don't you just post your metatags??
