Longer articles vs. shorter but more articles?

I have a bit of a dilemma. I have unique content for my site that sometimes runs between 1,500 and 2,300 words. Am I better of breaking up this content into two different articles or am I best just keeping it as one long article on a very long web page? Some of them can be broken up into two but there are others that would make me need to have Topic FAQ Part I and Topic FAQ Part II - acceptable, annoying to the users but my concern is first with bringing them in!!! :D

    Hi Folks,

An article about 1,500 and 2,300 words proves to be more lengthy as reader prospective. Most user don't like to read longer article. Though, exceptions are always there....:)

You should break the article into 2-3 part and then post them in article websites.

    Thanks

No, its better to cut those long articles into parts. As no one likes to read essays in today's time. Keep things short and informative, this will do the trick.

Nice reference but he uses a ton of words to say a simple thought! :D

My users will find the articles useful, long or short. They are hoping to find specific information but will look through the article. The question I'm asking is, for SEO purposes, which will provide me with better SERP results? That's what I'm after! :D

Why break the value into several parts? By doing this you split the link juice flowing to the article into several parts as well. And you obviously can get the link only to the first part of the article, thus the most part of your long-tail keyword (those that were unlucky to be on the other parts of a document) will recieve no link juice at all. Also, I can't tell for all, but I HATE articles that are split into 100500 parts and force me to click "Next" over and over.

Beleive me, if the resource is interesting enough - visitors will read it whether it would be 2500 or 25.000 words long. To make the things easier though, you definitely should split the article into the semantic parts, using headers, paragraghs and images to structurize your article and make it eye-friendly.

Keep it within a page, but break up with headings, even advertisements and images. Use short paragraphs, plenty of white space and big fonts, to make it easier to read.

Breaking these long articles up will also allow for more link opportunities-no?

Thanks guys. I broke up the article into 800 - 1200 words. It seems that I can accomplish a lot in that area and not lose the reader. Additionally, I can have the utility broken up into two related but different subtopics. I guess that is the happy medium. Thanks.

Break it up with article marketing your really out to give the reader some information but then to visit your web site for the rest. Be clear and to the point people like information and want it fast. All of my articles are about 350 words or less and thus my click thru rates are through the roof.

Sometimes people get bored with the longer article so I prefer with the shorter article but it should attract the readers and the detailed information itself would not be taken for granted.

Keep it brief, to the point and short. Visitors don't have time to read articles with 1000s of words. Try to explain your thing within few 100 words; may be 200-300.

    Enjoy

The longer articles are better for building authority to your site.

The downside is that they are more expensive in time and money to produce. So the long articles may not be ideal for sites that are monetized with adsense.

Generally articles that are between 400 to 500 words are the best for return on investment and SEO.

    Hi,
What type of click thru rates do you experience with your 350 word articles?

Also, what is the result of huge numbers of articles being posted on ezinearticles.com? I have only submitted 5 articles to ezine-all in the last 10 days, but have 40 or so on the website and some others on various other sites throughout the internet-most of which are duplications of those on the site.

I do not notice meaningful clicks to the URL. Only one was picked up by a publisher. The five have Google placements on pages 1, 2, 3, 4 or higher with NO traffic to the site from these articles as far as I can tell. Key words and phrases of medium demand searches (1,600 to 10,000 domestic searches per month as per google) were used in these articles.

I am trying to build GOOD traffic.

Writing 1,000 articles of even 250-400 words seems like a counter productive way to build traffic. I can write another book and subcontract out the article writing.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

Don't write essays but don't write extremely short articles. Basically, write a couple of sentences depending on what your article is pertaining to.
