I'm putting together a new PHPLD site and the URLs are getting looong.
My category tree goes pretty deep, example:

    www.domain.com/world/australia/tasmania/north-east/north-east-accommodation/hotels/

    Code (markup):
    Is this bad for SEO?

It's best to not have too many sub folders, this is because each sub directory branching off from your main site's root directory will generally receive a lower PageRank value.
