Hi, I'm fairly new to SEO and have been focusing on the most popular keywords. This has taken a lot of time and progress is steady. Now I have identified 80 or so longer keywords that all have competition under 300,000 pages. Everywhere I read people say its easy to rank high for such low competition. Is anyone interested in explaining or perhaps doing the work? Thanks.
The less competitors there are the easier it is to rank for the keyword. You still need to the usual optimization but you will have more success than if you were optimizing for a more difficult keyword.
With all the competition out there, long tail keywords are the way to go - especially if you want to start getting a foothold in a particular niche and build your way up! Great article!
Hi! Boy, when it comes to SEO stuff I'm about as dense as the tree trunk. The only thing I ever kept seeing all the time was make sure you used your keyword in your title. Other than that I've never understood any of it. Especially the long tail stuff. Well, last week I found a blog post by Terry Dean (as in org) that really helped me to understand what the term means. The title of the post was 'Using Long Tail Keywords for profit'. He tells how to find the keywords and then how to use them. I hope this helps others like it helped me! Linnie
Thanks very much live-cms_com for a great article, i fully understand it now and thanks to everyone elses replies in the thread with examples, it now appears to me rather simple but very important and business wise a very sensible approach to take.
