Long tail, long tail, long tail I can't stress it enough. I am so excited as I write this post because it finally clicked for me. To dominate the Search Engines you need to focus on long tail keywords for a larger niche for you are going after. I tried it with a long tail getting about 30 searches a day which is nothing but I am still on the first page slot nine. I have a blog where basically I talk about whatever tickles my fancy. For the most part it seems to be politics. I noticed people started finding my blog searching for Barack Obama. So if it was Barack the wanted it was Barack they were going to get. Now I knew I wasn't going to rank anytime soon for the keyword Barack Obama, but I decided to try to work what I have been learning from Grizzley, Vic and others. So I decide to try Stop Barack Obama. Only yesterday I wrote the post people! Today I am page one for that term. Now I am so new at this it isn't even funny but I am here to tell you work those long tail keywords. You can do it. I am telling you go to google and type in stop barack obama and you will see me and my blog post ranking number 9 on the first page. Long tail is the key.
Hi, Yes, you are right. Long tail keywords are key for seo success. I would suggest you to use LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) technique for much better and fast seo results. Feel free to send your questions. Thanks,
I use Keyword Elitle as well as the free tool here http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/ . I use to try to think of them on my own but it was too time consuming! LOL!
Hi, Here is blog post where you can learn How to Use Latent Semantic Indexing for successful SEO campaign. Hope this will help you. Would love to hear for you.
That term only gets 23 seaches per day, according to Wordtracker, though.... long tail is nice as long as it gets a lot of searches - otherwise you're wasting your time if you depend on one or two long tail terms.
I am a content writer and for last few months more than 60% of my clients are asking for LSI used website content and articles. And according to them they are doing good on search engines basically on Google and for long-term. So we just can't neglect this term because of the reason markn26 mentioned in his post. Anyway thanks,
longer keyword phrases are one of the best kept secrets of good SEO's -- they can make a huge difference. Not only are they easier to rank for but you can get highly targeted visitors from them.
I mentioned that it is a very low searched term I just wanted to see if I applied the principles if they would work. And they did. Besides every little bit helps. I wasn't expecting to be on the first page of google less than 24 hours after I made the post.
I don't think it's a secret at all. Most people only target one or two main phrases and don't bother with long tail because they don't thing the traffic would be worth it. ...but they're wrong.
You are correct. 10 to 20 long tail keywords along with LSI will not only get you ranked higher in the search engines but can bring you more profits than your high volume short tail keywords. The majority of traffic from your high traffic short tail keywords are not as targeted and are mostly people just searching for information. Long tail keywords traffic is highly targeted and the visitors are in a more "ready to buy" or "click your adsense" mindset.
Princess Leia you are absolutely right, I saw that as I climbed Mt G for a few more long tails I went after my clicks increased almost in direct response to the extra uniques I have been getting which is about an average of 16 more, my blog is still new, but the difference is now, I am getting traffic outside of social traffic which appears to be the best kind because social visitors don't click.
