I actually have a little trick I used, and came up with plenty of keywords
First I got keywords I thought people would type in, and then downloaded a free trial of Senuke (link building software), the reason is, their software automatically plugs in the competition and it tells you how hard it is to rank for that keyword. In 7 day free trial, you can download tone of keywords.

I use Google keyword tool, MS, and a Google suggestion tool I picked up along the SEO road. I rotate all but the under performers into these 3 tools until exhaustion. If you do this, you will have so many keywords you will find it daunting, and all the functionality you need is free. The hard part come in when you try to figure which keywords will give the most return for the least work. I am currently doing this by getting a list of all competitors backlinks before even looking at competitive result numbers. Who cares if you have only 10 competitors if they have hundred of thousands of BL built up over years, and vice versa, 1,000,000 competitors with only a few hundred backlinks can be swept under the with some ease if you have a BL strategy already in place...

Well said - to me keyword research is about the strength of competition, not the volume. For one site I outrank 21 million sites for the broad keyword because I did only a small amount of SEO (something like 50 BL's and strong onpage efforts). I say that not to show off, frankly anyone could do it, but because I saw a keyword whereby the top 10 sites were there more by what looked to be accident than design.
